A Quick Drift Check for Support Docs

Support documentation usually drifts quietly. A link changes, a screenshot ages out, or a form route moves and nobody updates the public instructions.

Start with high-traffic pages

  • Contact instructions
  • Login and reset steps
  • Billing or renewal notes
  • Any page that promises a response time

Compare the page to the real workflow

  • Follow every link from the page itself
  • Check that named owners still exist
  • Confirm inboxes, forms, and escalation points still route somewhere
  • Remove steps that only made sense during launch week

Fix the small problems immediately

If the correction takes ten minutes, do it during the review. Drift grows when small edits get turned into backlog items.
